Membership InsuranceIndividual MembersInsurance benefits included in the individual membership fee in respect of Triathlon England, triathlonscotland and Welsh Triathlon (the Home Nation Associations) is summarised as follows: 1. Public LiabilityThis recognises that any individual member who joins a Home Nation Association could be found negligent in their duty to participants, spectators, facility providers or the public and as a result be held legally liable for an accident, injury or damage to property or individuals.Individual members are insured for Public Liability to a limit of £5 million per case. This includes claims arising from triathlon activities at home or abroad. The essential member insurance covers you while training and participating in non-competitive and competitive swimming, cycling and running activities of triathlon, duathlon and related multisport events, such as aquathlon and cross triathlon. It is important to note that the insurance covers your legal liability and legal costs and expenses in the event of negligence only, and does not cover deliberate acts. Principal Exclusions• Leisure cycling activities that do not relate to the activities mentioned above • Participation in any events that are not permitted by the Home Nation Associations • Property in control or charge of the club • Ownership or use of vehicles • Liabilities assumed under agreements/contracts • The first £250 of each claim (the policy excess) which the individual member is required to pay Please note the limit of indemnity is £5 million per case and members competing in North America or other high award areas should take notice of advice on whether they need further cover. Persons Entitled to Indemnity• Race licence members of any Home Nation Association - Public Liability and Personal Accident cover. • Day licence holders and associate members of any Home Nation Association - Public Liability cover only. How to ClaimAs soon as possible after any incident, please telephone British Triathlon so that your membership details and a brief description of the incident can be taken. A report will then be sent immediately to our appointed solicitors and/or insurers Call British Triathlon 01509 226161. 2. Personal Accident CoverThe Personal Accident benefit is included in the individual membership of any full member who has joined any Home Nation Association. However, this benefit does not cover associate memberships or day licence holders. The following benefits are automatically provided for individual members injured while training, competing, refereeing, coaching, officiating or tutoring:
* Defined as "any and every" occupation excluding professional cycling or occupational cycling. This policy is not a substitute for medical insurance and does not include cover for temporary or partial disablement or items such as physiotherapy. ** Officials include qualified coaches, referees and safety officers. NB. For full policy terms including the list of Capital Benefits Sums Insured, conditions and exclusions please refer to the policy wording supplied by insurers (a copy is available upon request). This policy is not a substitute for medical insurance; especially when travelling and competing abroad it is strongly recommended that members take out relevant travel and medical insurance.
