The Season starts with a Winter Warmer
05th February 2010
A small but dedicated GB Age Group Team travel to Lygna in Norway this weekend as they compete at the 2010 Lygna ETU Winter Triathlon European Championships.
Fresh snow and a temperature of minus three degrees will welcome our team of three Age Group athletes in Lygna, near Oslo. Temperatures have plunged to as low as minus 15 degrees, earlier this week.
The event involves a 4km run, 7.5km mountain bike, and 6km cross-country ski, although the nature of Winter Triathlon means final distances will be set on the day taking account of the snow conditions.
Our team of three Age Group athletes includes Stephen Gray, Tom Phillips and British Triathlon’s very own President Dr Sarah Springman OBE.
Dr Sarah Springman OBE commented: “The 2010 Lygna ETU Winter Triathlon European Championships provides a unique opportunity for athletes to take part in one of triathlon’s more extreme multisport events. The venue in Norway should provide great racing and the small, but keen, GB Age Group team will represent their country with pride.”
