Published:

XMAN EVENTS LAUNCH OUTRAGEOUSLY EXTREME TRIATHLONS The arrival of Tri The Beast on 19th September is set to establish an exciting new Triathlon era and put sports on Exmoor under a national spotlight

With over 10,000ft of climbing Tri The Beast 70.3 is looking to take the title of 'Hardest 70.3 in the U.K.'

Set in the iconic rugged landscape, and building on the history of triathlon experiences on Exmoor, Xman Events have announced an exciting new series of extraordinary triathlon events, including Tri The Beast this year and Exmoor’s first Full Distance Triathlon in July 2016. Fuelled by the desire to promote both sport and the appreciation and care of Exmoor as a natural playground, the young team sets out to provide tougher and more exciting triathlon events on Exmoor at more affordable prices.

We have drawn inspiration from other fantastic events such as Slateman and Brutal Triathlons, which seek to up the standard of events on offer for aspirational and adventurous triathletes - feeding the growing hunger for harder and harder events and providing extraordinary experiences for those on a quest for the ultimate challenge.

In affiliation with Triathlon England and in collaboration with sponsors including Jersey Pocket Nutrition, Fatyaks Kayaks, Exmoor Bike, Dryrobe, and Tanks Direct, the new company sets out to establish an enhanced sports identity in the South West. As well as raising money for the RNLI and working on collaborative ventures with The National Trust, Xman Events will be sponsoring the new Exmoor Triathlon Club. Set up in partnership with SASP, this club will seek to promote the uptake of the sport for young people and assist aspiring athletes in their progression.

The founder of Xman Events, Amer Dehaini, was born in Devon and brought up on Exmoor. He is a passionate and ambitious triathlete who featured as a Slateman Savage athlete on 220 Triathlon’s website earlier this year. Competing nationally and living and training on Exmoor he is excited about sharing the jewels of the area with those seeking extraordinary sports experiences:

'We would like to thank Triathlon England, Exmoor National Park, our sponsors, local businesses and our volunteers for all their incredible support in launching this exciting venture. We hope these new events will provide truly extraordinary experiences for triathletes, benefit a huge number of people, and enhance the appreciation and care of Exmoor - our home that we love.

ABOUT TRI THE BEAST:

Inspired by the wild goats who clamber the dramatic Valley of Rocks, the Tri The Beast course seeks to challenge and excite with breathtaking scenery and climbs on both bike and foot. This event is most definitely not for the faint-hearted and will demand every ounce of fitness but the reward is great: not only will the sense of achievement take most athletes beyond anything they have experienced previously but, thanks to huge support from their sponsors, the prizes on offer for this years event are also quite extraordinary. First prize for both the men's and women's 70.3 event is a weeks holiday in a luxury Italian villa - each worth over £3,000.

Showcasing some of the best of Exmoor

SWIM: The swim is held in a beautiful sheltered bay beneath the dramatic cliffs of Countisbury Hill (those of you who know the area will be familiar with the formidable 1:4 climb!). With a back up swim location in the protected mouth of the river; the event is secured for every weather condition.

BIKE: For those with the quad strength to tackle the relentless climbing, the bike route will undoubtedly be one of the most spectacular rides on offer this year. From shore to moor and back again the route will challenge and excite even the most experienced riders.

RUN: The run follows the river Lyn upstream to the waterfalls of Watersmeet, through leafy woodland and mysterious glens the path meanders, climbing up, and up, and up before launching you onto open moorland with magnificent views of the surrounding hills and coast. The scenic climax of the event will be at mile 9 of the run where, poised above The Valley of Rocks, athletes with have their breath taken away by the awesome surroundings before they steal themselves for the final effort along the coastal path back to the finish on Lynmouth Green.
