Today, Hannah Kitchen celebrated winning the European title at the ETU Aquathlon European Championships in Cologne.
Kitchen’s gold wasn’t the only medal won in the elite races, with Michael Lewis winning silver in the junior men’s race.
Kitchen's gold medal performance follows last season’s silver medal in the same event and a bronze medal won at the 2014 ITU Aquathlon World Championships in Edmonton.
Talking before the race after a fifth placed performance at the Leukaemia & Lymphoma Blenheim Palace Triathlon, Kitchen commented: "I've only just started my season due to injury so I'm really keen to get back racing, Blenheim was my first race just over a week ago and I was pleased with the result there though I know I've got a lot more still to come," she said.
And she was true to her word, celebrating the European title in a winning time of 33 minutes 39 seconds.
In the elite men’s race, Sam Wade delivered a top-ten finish, placing eighth, whilst Neil Eddy finished in 14th position.
The Great Britain Age-Group Team has also celebrated a dominant day with 10 gold medallists, 13 silver and 15 bronze. These are provisional results and are subject to change.
