Support Team Wales in the Triathlon Mixed Relay event tomorrow

Wales' elite triathletes compete for a medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow

Tomorrow sees Team Wales’ triathlon team compete for a medal in the Triathlon Mixed Relay event in Glasgow. The race is sure to be fast and furious, with Carol Bridge, 29, from Rhondda, Holly Lawrence, 22, from Swansea, Morgan Davies, 20, from Porthcawl and Liam Lloyd, 20, from Llanelli, all proudly representing Wales. Eli Thorogood and Alex Matchett will also be there as travelling reserves supporting their team mates. 

The Triathlon Mixed Relay event will be contested in Strathclyde Country Park over a 250m swim, 6km cycle and 1.6km run. Each of the four competitors will complete a full super sprint triathlon, starting with a female athlete, who then hands over to male athlete for the second leg, a female for the third leg and the fourth and final leg a male athlete.

Speaking from the Glasgow, the Welsh Commonwealth Team Triathlon Coach Rich Brady said, ‘ The final preparations in Glasgow have gone well. The team are in good spirits and they are ready to deliver the performances of their lives. The racing on Saturday is going to be hard and fast, but the team is well prepared. They have put all other racing plans to one side to specifically prepare for the Commonwealth Games Triathlon Team Relay and will be racing will passion and pride for Team Wales’.

If you didn’t get your hands on that all-important Grandstand ticket, the race has non-ticketed, free-to-view access so you can come along and show your support for Team Wales.

On the day for which it is valid, your event ticket will entitle you to access ScotRail services, Subway services (in Glasgow) and many bus services in the local area. In Glasgow, this includes services within the SPT Zonecard area G1–G8 of the Glasgow public transport network, with an extension for Triathlon spectators.
