Helen Jenkins has met phase 4, 2.1 of the British Triathlon nomination criteria for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games
Following her win at the ITU World Triathlon Gold Coast, Helen Jenkins has met phase 4, 2.1 of the British Triathlon nomination criteria for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and will be put forward to the British Olympic Association for selection in June.
To date, five athletes have met the nomination criteria. Subject to formal selection with Team GB, Jenkins will join other welsh triathlete Non Stanford and Vicky Holland in the women’s team, and Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee have achieved nomination for the men’s team.
One slot remains in the men’s team. Performances will be assessed next month following the ITU World Triathlon Yokohama to fill the remaining quota place and nominate reserves. The team will be announced in early June.
Welsh Triathlon would like to congratulate Helen Jenkins on her performance and wish her and Non all the best in their training and racing up to Rio.
