The Bala Sprint Triathlon - Stage 3 of Welsh Triathlon Super Series 

A new wave within the event for 2019, the Bala Sprint will provide opportunities for those competing in the Welsh Triathlon Super Series to go head to head, as well as an opportunity for those who feel the Olympic Distance isn’t quite within reach to be part of the Bala Big Bash. The Sprint event will be a 750m swim within Llyn Tegid, before heading out 10KM out on the A494 towards Dolgellau, turning back at Pont Rhyd-Sarn to complete the 20Km bike leg, and join the run course along Llyn Tegid.

Registration for this event will open from 5:00-7:00pm on Friday 28th June, 9:30am-2:30pm on Saturday 29th June, and from 6:00am until 7:30am on Sunday 30th June. Competitors are advised to collect their packs on the Friday and Saturday if possible. All athletes will be required to attend a safety briefing at 7:45am with the race scheduled to commence at 8:15am on Sunday 30th June.

The Bala Standard Triathlon 

A favourite within the Welsh Triathlon calendar returns for 2019. A refreshing 1500m swim in Llyn Tegid, followed by 40km on fast closed roads, before the final 10km run following the banks of Llyn Tegid, before returning and finishing at the Northern bank of the lake. This event will also be the inaugural Welsh Universities Championship, which will see students from all of Wales’ universities go head to head.

Enter as an individual or as a relay team of 3, this standard is suitable for the first timer as well as those who simply like to go FAST. If you’re a student, be sure to represent your University Team in their bid to take the crown.

Competitor Camp

Bala Rugby Club have been kind enough to allow the use of their facilities over the course of the weekend. There will be a limited amount of competitor parking here, as well as competitor camping over the course of the weekend. There will be showering and toilet facilities on site, as well as the bar within the rugby club building. To book a camping pitch at the Rugby club, please email wt-events@ welshtriathlon.org.  Other accommodation providers within Bala and the surrounding areas can be found on our ‘About Bala’ page if you prefer a little more luxury.
