Based on the latest Welsh Government instruction around Covid-19 Welsh Triathlon has taken the decision to cancel the Tri In Tredegar event due to be held at Park Bryn Bach on Saturday 18th July 2020. Welsh Triathlon will refund all participants who have entered the race. Each participant will be contacted regarding their refunds in due course.
British Triathlon have also confirmed the Inter-Regional Championships will not take place in 2020. Lack of access to swim training for all and uncertainty over possible trial races has led to questions over whether athletes could qualify for the IRCs in a safe and fair way. Should racing be possible at Mallory Park later this year BTF will be offering Tristar 2 and Tristar 3 athletes the option to race in an open entry event. As a result Welsh Triathlon will not seek to put in a contingency plan to select a IRC team in 2020.
