British Triathlon Unveils New Coach Development Programme

British Triathlon, in collaboration with First Ascent is launching an exciting new coaching programme to support experienced Level 3 triathlon coaches.

British Triathlon, in collaboration with First Ascent is launching an exciting new coaching programme to support experienced Level 3 triathlon coaches.
 
This innovative programme, named "KAIZEN" is a 12 month journey to develop personal coaching expertise, supporting up to 10 coaches per cohort across Great Britain. It will be tailored to meet coaches individual needs where possible and designed to fit into their current work commitments.
 
This is a process that will be driven by the coaches within a framework established by British Triathlon and First Ascent, supported by the coach development team and course peers. KAIZEN is the first triathlon coach development programme to support proactive, talented level 3 coaches in their quest to expand their coaching knowledge, skills and experience. This is a programme of continuous professional development and will therefore not be a formal UKCC endorsed coaching qualification.
 
Who is it for?
 
level 3 qualified coaches qualified under the British Triathlon coach education system. And will have been qualified and operating on a regular basis for a minimum period of 2 years
 
Coaches who are in good standing with British Triathlon and the respective Home Nation Associations
 
Coaches operating as head coaches or leading a team of coaches in a club-based environment
 
Coaches who are committed to continual improvement, and not necessarily interested in gaining a formal qualification
 
1x application per affiliated triathlon club
 
Programme Overview
 
12 month coach development programme
 
4 x 2 day group residential workshops (core programme of workshops plus coach driven content & guest speakers)
 
Training Needs Analysis including 360 review process
 
Video analysis of coaching practice with expert feedback
 
Development of a Personal Development Plan
 
Issued with a web-based e-Portfolio system to record & log learning & reflections
 
Allocation of a Personal Mentor
Opportunity to pursue a personal expertise project
Establish a community of high-performing Triathlon Coaches

Selection Process
 
Please download the attached KAIZEN Application form to find out more about the programme, and requirements for being accepted onto the programme. Applicants may be called to an in-depth interview and asked to provide evidence that they can demonstrate the criteria for selection to the course. This should be done in the most appropriate way to get your messages across and will be hosted by a range of specialists. This process is not a test but rather a chance for the candidates to explain their motivation and personal goals for attending the course.
