Welsh Triathlon are pleased to publish the nomination policy for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
There will be five medal events in the Birmingham 2022 Triathlon competition: Individual Women, Individual Men, Para Individual Women, Para Individual Men and a Mixed Team Relay event.
Louis Richards Head of Performance had this to say,
“Whilst we have remained in a very privileged position being able to support elite athletes with training opportunities, it has been frustrating for athletes and coaches to have had so few racing opportunities last year. The release of the policy will hopefully provide a focus for the coming months as we work our way back to racing.”
Luke Watson, Welsh Triathlon’s Performance coach will continue to support athletes selected onto the Welsh Triathlon Performance Program with their training and preparations to meet the nomination policy. He said;
"It is great to have the policy published – Gold Coast 2018 was an amazing experience for what was a relatively young team. As the Commonwealth Games are taking place close to home in 2022, it will be really special for those who are selected. I am looking forward to helping our athletes meet the nomination standards so that we can field the strongest possible team in Birmingham"
Any athlete wishing to be considered for nomination must notify Welsh Triathlon in writing email to firstname.lastname@example.org of their intention to be considered no later than 26th February 2021, outlining their eligibility against the criteria specified in 1.1.
