It is with regret that Welsh Triathlon have to announce the cancellation of the 2020 Bala Big Bash Event.
The weekend which was a collaborative delivery between Welsh Triathlon, Swim Wales and the Urdd had gathered momentum over the previous two seasons. Due to having to move the event to a date outside of the summer months the collaborative delivery that has been so successful was no longer possible due to alignment issues between the various events. The subsequent impact on the event format and delivery model means the event is no longer viable. This has led us to the very tough decision to withdraw the event from this years’ calendar.
As a result of the cancellation, the finale of the 2020 Welsh Triathlon Super Series will now be the Sandman Triathlon. Remaining in the North, and returning to Newborough Forest on Anglesey, the location for the previous two finals. Entry for stage 6 can be completed by clicking here
The advertised pool based Aquathlon for Saturday 19th September in Bala which will form part of the North Wales Tristar Series will continue as planned.
The team relay previously held at Bala has now been relocated to Park Bryn Bach. The event will take place during an exciting day of racing that will see some of the best youth, junior and senior athletes from across the UK come to Wales to take part in the British Super Series. Welsh Triathlon would like to sincerely thank the National Governing Bodies as well as those local individuals and groups who have campaigned and supported the Bala Big Bash over the last two years. We look forward to supporting triathlon and multi-sport activity in Bala in the future years.
