What is the IRCs?
Taking place on the 20th & 21st of August 2022 in Sunderland the Inter Regional Championships (IRC) is the annual National Championships for the TriStar2 and TriStar3 triathletes.
The event will bring together the best athlete from each of the ten English regions, Scotland and Wales. In the case of Wales, the team will represent Wales as a whole.
How do I get selected to represent Wales?
We will be selecting a team of 16 athletes in total (8 female, 8 male) across the TriStar 2 and TriStar 3 age groups. Due to the IRC in 2022 taking place in July, the calendar doesn’t allow the opportunity to deliver our preferred three-race team selection process as in previous years. Therefore, building on the success of the selection process used in 2021, we will run two selection days on May 28th in the South & May 29th in the North. We have made the selection format as specific as possible to the event whilst also ensuring we can compare athlete performances from the North and South days accurately.
The format for selection will run as separate TT’s across swim, bike (T3 only) and run. The swim will be pool based and the run will be a mass start TT. The distances for each race can be found below:
|TriStar 3||TriStar 2|
|Swim||300m pool swim||300m pool swim|
If you would like to take part in the selection events you need to register HERE by 5pm on 22nd April 2022.
