Welsh Triathlon appoints Mike Tate as Director of Safeguarding and Child Protection

Mike is a qualified teacher and is head teacher of Ysgol Bae Baglan all through 3-16 school in Port Talbot. This is one of the newest and most technologically advanced schools in Wales and sits at the heart of its community, opening its doors to community provision each evening and weekends and school holidays.

He is a lifelong sportsman and has been actively participating in triathlon since the early nineties. He has competed at all distances, finding Iron distance races more suited to his mentality. He likes to challenge himself over the hardest triathlons gaining a black T shirt at Norseman, a blue at Celtman and finishing the Brutal. This year he will represent GB in the European Iron distance triathlon in Madrid.

He is passionate about bringing his experience in safeguarding and equality, developed over many years in schools, together with his extensive knowledge and understanding of the sport of triathlon to help develop its presence and participation into the future.
