NTPCW athletes came out on top at the BUCS Sprint Triathlon in Parc Bryn Bach on Saturday (1st June), following up on their previous success at the  BUCS Biathlon

Issy Morris (Cardiff Met) continued to show her return to form after losing most of 2018 to glandular fever, by taking the Women’s Individual title with a storming run. Flo Swan (Met) showed her strength on the bike to cross the line in 6th and Ellie White (Met) had a great race to finish in 7th. This was more than enough to also take home the Women’s Team title for Cardiff Met.

In the men’s race, Iestyn Harrett (Met) was dominant throughout to take the individual title, with the fastest run of the day. First year student, Ollie Turner (Met) put in another excellent performance to finish in 8th, the same position that he achieved at the recent BUCS Standard Triathlon. BUCS Biathlon Champion, Jamie Price (Met) completed the team for Cardiff Met with a top-20 finish, helping the Men’s Team to the bronze medal.

Josh Lewis (Cardiff Uni) just missed out on a Top 10, finishing 11th. Alongside Freddie Purcell and Alistair Souch, Josh helped Cardiff Uni to 7th in the team competition. Michael Taylor (Cardiff Uni) was racing for the second time in a week after his silver medal at the British Paratriathlon Championships on Bank Holiday Monday. A fantastic swim, leading out his wave set him up for a good overall result.

This weekend wraps up all the triathlon (and biathlon) BUCS events for the 2019 season. Cardiff Met finished a brilliant 3rd overall on BUCS points (up two places from 5th in 2018), confirming their status as one of the leading UK triathlon Universities. Cardiff Uni finished in 8th.
