2021 Qualification for 2022 Participation

Welsh Triathlon are delighted to confirm that Tim Tri Cymru will return during the 2021 season, with qualification on offer to represent Wales at both the British Sprint and British Standard Championship events in 2022.

Plans for 2021 would have seen qualification aligned with the 2020 Welsh Triathlon Super Series, but with Covid-19 having left its mark, and the re-arrangement of events differing slightly in 2021, a change to this process enables us to support a wider number of event organisers, as they too look to return after what has been a turbulent year.

How do I Qualify for Tim Tri Cymru?

Firstly, you’ll need to enter the Welsh National Championship event for preferred discipline. These are:

National Sprint Triathlon Championship – Llanelli Sprint, Sunday 16th May – Healthy Life Activities

National Standard Triathlon Championship – Porthcawl Standard, Porthcawl – Sunday 8th August– Aim2Tri & Pencoed Triathlon Club

Once you’ve entered the event of your choice, you then need to register your intention with Welsh Triathlon by filling out the following survey

https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/YP5ZWNF

Once you have successfully registered, you will receive a confirmation email.

Who gets selected?

It is our aim to take at least one male and one female representative from each age category to each event. This will be based on the best placed registered participant in each category. If scope allows, additional places will be provided where possible.

Which Events will I represent Tim Tri Cymru at?

You and the rest of the team will represent Wales at both the British Sprint and British Standard Championships in 2022. The venues and dates of these events have yet to be confirmed, but they are often part of a wider BTF delivery of a World Triathlon Series event, so it’s sure to be an exciting prospect once confirmed. If those who were initially selected are unable to make the published dates, then a roll down list will be operated for that respective age category.

Tîm Tri Cymru Manager, Amy Jenner, says “I’m thoroughly looking forward to assisting the Tîm Tri Cymru representatives for a second spell. This is a great opportunity to lead the way and for us to showcase how passionate Welsh Triathletes are on a British stage, and I’m sure after the frustrations of the Pandemic, there’ll be plenty out there who want to put that Dragon on”.
