Tristar Series Sizzles in Llanelli Sunshine

Published:

The Llanelli Multisport Festival Weekend ended the first section of this season’s Tristar Series. After some exciting racing at the Cerist Aquathlon in Machynlleth and the Junior Triathlon in Ruthin, the HLA Llanelli Junior Duathlon brought the first block to a close before the series heads to Ystradgynlais, Cardiff and Pembrokeshire.

With the British Elite Youth and Junior races taking part in the afternoon, it was down to the youngsters of Carmarthenshire and further afield to set the tone and show Britain’s best how it’s done!

With both boys and girls being set off together, the starts of each leg were intense affairs, with competitors of all ages and abilities jostling for positions. Some of those taking part were looking to cement their positions in the WT Tristars Table, whilst many within the Tristart age category doing their first ever multisport event, like young Cole May who brought the Tristart race to a close by bringing the crowd to a crescendo.

Sean Bevan and Jack John finished first and second in the male race having been neck and neck throughout the race. Thomas Mclean making it third onto the podium.  Katie Evans took the honours in the girl’s race, joined on the podium by Seren Bowen and Milly Harris.

The Warrender Boys could be Wales’ equivalent to the Brownlee’s as they took first and second in the Boys Tristar 1, with Daniel pipping Tristan to first. They were separated by Mabli Phillips and Lily Roberts who came first and second in Tristart 1 girl with Josh Cleave and Aelwen Davies coming in third within each race respectively.

Anwen Neesham continued to dominate the Tristar 2 girls series with her third win from three events. She was joined on the podium by Maddy James and Eleanor White. Tristan James won a highly contested boys race in the Tristar 2 with 10seconds separating him from second place Ifan Bowen. Ioan James coming in third.

Liam Edwards dominated the boys Tristar 3 race, finishing 90 seconds ahead of second place Luke Wyatt. Iago Williams, another local coming in third. The boys were supported crossing the line by Tristar 3 girls winner Bethany Cook, followed by Sonja De Konig and Abigail Davies coming in third.

The next block of Tristar series races takes us to Ystradgynlais for the Stephen Lewis Aquathlon organised by Celtic tri on Sunday 3rd June. Spaces for this race are limited, whilst the following race in Cardiff on the 9th June has sold out with over 220 places taken. The 6th stage of the Tristar Series at Pembrokeshire co-insides with stage 2 of the Welsh Super Series and Welsh Triathlon’s National Standard Championship at Pembrokeshire Coastal Triathlon, Broadhaven. Entry is still open for both the children and adult races so an ideal opportunity for the whole family to take part.

The updated Tristar series scores can be found here and will be updated as soon as possible following each event.

*Welsh triathlon is dependent on receiving the race reports from event organisers and race results from official time keepers before scores can be collated. Any delay in this will result in the scores being published late. All entries are verified with BTF HQ in Loughborough with regards to membership. If entrants do not enter their names correctly and they do not match the details they have submitted for Welsh Triathlon membership, this may cause discrepancies in the scoring system and result in further delay. Please make every effort to complete the online entry system for races with the same information you have submitted for your membership. Any concerns should be sent to garethevans@welshtraithlon.org with photographic evidence of your membership card. Any amendments will be made prior to the next race.
