Below are the dates and application process for the upcoming Welsh Development Academy Trials.

The Welsh Development Academy (WDA) trials will take place in two locations to allow as many athletes as possible the opportunity to trial.

• 7^th October- Brecon
• 8^th October- Colwyn Bay

To attend a trial you will need to meet the below eligibility criteria and complete the online trial application form.

Eligibility

1. Be aged between 15-19 as of the 31st December 2018

AND

2. Be eligible to represent Wales at the Commonwealth Games

What is the WDA?

The goal of the WDA is to create a supportive, challenging and inspiring environment to help aid and guide Whole Athlete Development in line with the 6 Pillars of the British Triathlon Athlete Development Framework (ADF).

This will be achieved through experiences that are above and beyond that which athletes can access in their home training environment in the form of;

• Multi day school holiday camps in October, February & August delivered across Wales
• 8-10 supplementary one-day training days delivered across Wales
• First class coaching and guidance from the Pathway Coaching team
• Personal Athlete Development Plan
• Preparation and Support at Youth & Junior Super Series Events

How do I compare?

To assess physical standards British Triathlon uses a swim/run points table to indicate an athlete’s age and stage potential. While standards will vary from year to year, generally a minimum total of around 300 points will be required to trial for the WDA. Selection to the WDA is based on a wide range of factors both physical, technical and behavioural that are aligned to British Triathlon’s Athlete Development Framework (ADF). The full WDA selection document can be found HERE
