Friday 19th February 2021
Following the Welsh Governments’ announcement today (Friday 19th February 2021) the Tier 4 restrictions will continue for another 3 weeks.
From tomorrow (Saturday 20th February) four people from two different households will be able to meet outdoors for socially distanced local exercise. The exercise will need to take place locally - leaving from your own front door and returning to your own front door.
Further information from the Welsh Government can be found by clicking here. It is disappointing that we find ourselves in this position, but we fully understand that the safety of the population comes first. As a Triathlon community, we have managed this situation recently, and we will do so again.

CLUB TRAINING AND ACTIVITY
From Saturday 20th February, four people from two different households will be able to meet outdoors for socially distanced local exercise. The exercise will need to take place locally - leaving from your own front door and returning to your own front door. No face-to-face club activity is permitted. Facilities remain closed. No group rides and group runs are permitted.
INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITY AND TRAINING
From Saturday 20th February four people from two different households will be able to meet outdoors for socially distanced local exercise. The exercise will need to take place locally. You are not permitted to travel to exercise, so any bike ride or run should begin and finish from your home. Please be sure to take sufficient nutrition and hydration for your activity, ensuring you are self-sufficient.
Welsh Government are encouraging people to remain active. Walking, running and cycling are some of the most accessible and viable forms of exercise throughout this period, but please take care and be sure to wear appropriate clothing and check the conditions before departing.
Group cycling, group running or open water swimming in groups is not permitted.
Any activity that you do engage in, please ensure you maintain social distancing throughout.
Leisure facilities across Wales will not re-open until we return to Tier 3, so please liaise with your local leisure facility provider when this does occur and adhere to their social distancing measures, as well as Welsh Triathlon guidance.
COACH EDUCATION AND EVENTS
All face-to-face coach education has been suspended until restrictions ease, but we will continue to deliver our blended learning modules as planned, with additional coach education CPDs and webinars planned for 2021
All events are currently on hold until restrictions ease. Welsh Triathlon are in discussions with Welsh Government and our event organiser network to explore the opportunities for a number of triathlon and multisport events to be considered as pilot events in 2021. Virtual activity remains through the Welsh Grand Tour, as well as numerous virtual events facilitated by our affiliated event organisers.
If you reside around the English borders, please be aware that regulations and restrictions could differ once you cross the border. Please check before departing on your activity.
