80 competitors lined up for the Welsh Aquathlon Championships organised by GOG Triathlon at Porth Eirias on Saturday 18th August.
Following a slightly delayed start due to the strong south westerly winds, Michael Lewis, Joe Niven and Sam Holt led the men’s with Rhian Roxburgh and Kate Pugh coming out together following the first lap. During the second lap, Lewis & Niven extended a small gap on Holt with Roxburgh extending a lead into Pugh.
On the run Lewis & Niven drove hard extending their lead with talented youngster Osian Perrin running strong to push through into third spot. On the women’s race Roxburgh extended her lead from the swim with Colwyn Bay athlete Rhiannon Kamink putting in a great run to push into second place with Kate Pugh running strong for third.
