With the triathlon season in full swing Welsh athletes from the TriStar, Youth and Junior age groups have been taking part and racing at events across the UK.
Most of competition for Youth and Juniors has been focused on the British Youth and Junior Super series, BYJSS. Held over six races across the UK and culminating in the Under 20’s festival (15th & 16th September), the BYJSS provides the best development opportunity for young athletes. The BYJSS also provides young athletes with the chance to learn the skills and attributes required to be a high performing athlete.
In addition to the BYJSS, Welsh athletes have also been competing to secure their slot in the Welsh team for the UK School Games. The UK School Games is a major multi-sport event for young and talented athletes across the UK. Held between Thursday 30th August and Sunday 2nd September, more than 1,400 young athletes will compete across 11 sports at venues across the Loughborough University Campus. Five sports will include disability competition, and this is the first year triathlon will be included in the games.
We are pleased to announce the team for Welsh Triathlon, who will be taking part in the UK School Games:
Osian Perrin
Joshua Jones
Orla Davies
Laura Sharp
In addition to Youth and Junior racing, the Welsh TriStar series has been taking place since April. The TriStar series provides athletes with the opportunity to learn about Triathlon and engage in some competitive opportunities. Every year Wales takes a team of TriStar 2 and TriStar 3 athletes to the Under 20’s festival to take part in the IRC Championship.
