Welsh Triathlon are pleased to announce a new national competition to run during 2017.
Four of the existing national championship races will also now host a round of the inaugural Welsh Triathlon National Series (title name TBC, see below). These races are:
• Bala Middle Distance Triathlon: Sunday 4th June
• Cardiff Triathlon, Standard Distance: Sunday 25th June
• Porth Eirias Aquathlon: Saturday 15th July
• Tuska Sprint Triathlon: Sunday 6th August
This series aims to raise the profile of the National Championship races in Wales while providing an improved and exciting race experience for Welsh Triathlon members, wider participants and spectators alike.
While only Welsh Triathlon members will be eligible for national championship medals, the Welsh Triathlon National Series will be open to all home nations members, with the top Age-Group athletes from Wales pitted against their counterparts from England and Scotland in the competition to take home the prize of Welsh National Series Champion.
As an additional incentive, prizes and prize money will also be offered as follows at the end of the four-race series:
• 1st place- £100
• 2nd place- £50
• 3rd place- £25

Youth and Junior athletes will compete for the series title over two races, the Porth Eirias Aquathlon and the Tuska Sprint Triathlon. Where eligible to enter, junior athletes may compete for national titles in the standard and middle distance races, but these races will not count towards the series.
To count for the series, Senior and Veteran athletes must compete in two races, with the best three scores out of four counting towards the series. Youth and Junior athletes will be eligible for the series title after completing one race, but scores over both races will count towards the series. Name the Series Competition!
Welsh Triathlon want to involve all members in this exciting new racing format so are holding a competition to name the series!
We want our members to come up with a name which encapsulates racing triathlon in Wales and inspires participation.

Names must be translatable into both Welsh and English. The winning entry will be decided by Welsh Triathlon and will be the headline name for the 2017 series.
The deadline for entries is Friday 27th January.
