All communities matter to us and we want to work with, empower and support all those who want to take part in our sport.
We aim to ensure that everyone, no matter what background, can access our sport. Black Lives Matter and we stand against racism and any form of discrimination.
The Black Lives Matter movement began as a call to action in response to state-sanctioned violence and anti-black racism. The purpose from the very beginning was to connect people from all over the world who have a shared desire for justice to act together in their communities. As a collective, Black Lives Matter believes in an inclusive and spacious movement and strives for a world where Black people are no longer victims of systematic racism.
We recognise that while we have undertaken activity to engage with the BAME community in Wales, we are just at the beginning of this journey. As members of the Welsh Sports Equality Alliance, Welsh Triathlon has worked with the BAME Sport Cymru project to build relationships and illustrate the benefits of taking part in triathlon and multi-sport activity. We have also ensured that all of our staff have completed BAME specific diversity and inclusion training.
We will continue to listen, learn, and redouble our efforts to ensure that our sport is accessible to all, irrespective of skin colour. Welsh Triathlon commits to working more closely with BAME communities in Wales by ensuring that our activities cater to all and we will do all that we can to ensure that in the people of Wales have the opportunity to enjoy the wide-ranging benefits of taking part in triathlon and multi-sport activity.
