Welsh Triathlon Super Series - Update Announcement

Published:

It is with regret, that the 2021 Welsh Triathlon Super Series will be reduced to 5-stage, following the removal of the Fishguard Sprint Triathlon.

Welsh Triathlon have been aware that the weekend of activity associated with the AWE ‘Wales Triathlon’ at Fishguard was part of the Welsh Government testing event protocol. Unfortunately, the parameters around this series of testing events do not allow that weekend of activity to run in its usual form, and as such, the Fishguard Sprint Triathlon, as well as the Big Swim has been postponed and rescheduled for June 2022. The Middle-Distance Event, being the Welsh National Middle-Distance Championship will continue to go ahead.

Any WT members who were competing in this event solely for the WT Super Series will need to contact the AWE team and follow their arrangements.

This now means that the 2021 Super Series is scheduled to commence at Broadhaven on Saturday 10th July, with the subsequent events taking place at Porthcawl, Bala, Sandman, and Barry.

Individual scores will now be the best of 3 across the series, with the team events taking the best scoffing athletes from all five stages, as per the previous release.

Welsh Triathlon is working closely with Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club, following all WG updates and ensuring that the event organisers do everything possible to ensure safe delivery.
