Welsh Pathway

The Welsh Triathlon pathway consists of a number of activities for athletes aged 11-19 years old who wish to explore performance focused triathlon.

What is the Welsh Triathlon Pathway?

The pathway includes a mixture of open access and selective programs each with the purpose to create a supportive, challenging, and inspiring environment to help aid and guide athlete development. We aim to deliver our pathway activity in a collaborative and engaging way with young people’s home-based clubs, coaches and support network.

We understand the value of the home daily training environments (DTE) and are committed to working with athletes and their home coaches on supporting the development of their daily training environment (DTE). Pathway activity is designed to operate as an add value programme and not to replace the DTE.

Figure 1 shows the overview of the different programmes and opportunities available to athletes. All of our pathway programs are designed and delivered, aligned to the Athlete Development Framework (ADF). The framework focuses on developing independent learners and problem solvers, athletes capable of consistently making the right decisions at the right time no matter the level of expectation. You can find a complete breakdown of the ADF and its six pillars HERE.

The Welsh Triathlon programmes are open to athletes who wish to pursue performance focused Paratriathlon in the pathway. Para athletes can access support through the WTAP and NGC programmes.
