The Inter Regional Championships (IRCs) are the annual National Championships for TriStar 2 and TriStar 3 triathletes.

Taking place on the 14^th & 15^th September 2024 in Mallory Park, the Inter Regional Championships (IRC) event will bring together the best athletes from each of the ten English regions, Scotland and Wales. In the case of Wales, the team will represent Wales as a whole.

How do I get selected to represent Wales?

We will be selecting a team of 16 athletes in total (8 female, 8 open*) across the TriStar 2 and TriStar 3 age groups. The team will be selected from specific selection races that are part of the 2024 Welsh Triathlon Junior Race Series.

The selection race(s) for the teams will be:

Tri Star 3 (13 & 14 years)

Ruthin Triathlon*

5^th May 2024

Tri Star 2 (11 & 12 years)

Stephen Lewis Aquathlon

19^th May 2024

*Please note the bike section will be on grass and TS3 athletes will need to be gear restricted, read more here.

Tri Star 2 athletes will race an aquathlon and Tri Star 3 athletes will race a triathlon to reflect the events taking place at the IRC’s. More information about the races and to enter, please see here.

To be eligible for selection athletes must have;

• A valid Welsh Triathlon membership; AND
• Have Wales as their region on their race license by 1^st May 2024
• Have notified Vicky Johnston in writing by email to vickyjohnston@welshtriathlon.org no later than 9th June 2024, of their wish to be considered for selection.
