The British Triathlon Federation is the National Governing Body for Triathlon, Duathlon and Multisport events in Great Britain.  Welsh Triathlon is one of three Home Nation organisations responsible for delivering Triathlon in Britain.  Welsh Triathlon is responsible for the delivery of; membership, Welsh teams, development of participation, coaches, clubs, events and volunteers in Wales.

Along with British Triathlon Federation, Welsh Triathlon recognise that everyone who participates in Triathlon is entitled to participate in a safe and fun environment and to be given the chance to experience the feelings of enjoyment, challenge and achievement inherent to the sport.  All young people are entitled to be protected from abuse; our sport has a duty of care in this respect.

British Triathlon Federation is committed to devising and implementing policies and procedures to ensure everyone in the sport accepts their responsibilities to safeguarding children from harm and abuse.

Welsh Triathlon has adopted the policies and procedures set out by British Triathlon Federation.  It is committed to implementing these policies and procedures throughout the sport in Wales taking action to safeguard children and to report any concerns about their welfare.  It is not the responsibility of Welsh Triathlon to determine whether or not abuse has taken place; this is the domain of child protection professional; the children’s social care services and the police – agencies who support this policy and work closely with Triathlon to create the right environment.

For The ‘Safeguarding and Protecting Children Policy’ presented (useful links), all the policies and procedures are implemented by Welsh Triathlon.

The Procedure for Reporting incidents or concerns in Wales can be found here
