Harry Butterworth

Age : 20

Coach : Oscar Barbour

Hometown : Scarborough, Yorkshire.

Triathlon Background : I started competing in triathlon at age 12 at a recreational level, alongside many other sports. Shortly after my first triathlon race my interest in the sport took off and I began training more seriously across the three sports. After a few years my main focus became the British Triathlon Super Series which offered multiple high level national races each year and I still compete in these to this day. When I moved to Cardiff University it was unknown whether I would continue to compete at a high level but since joining the NTPCW I developed quickly into a much stronger athlete, helping me gain my all-time best results over the past two years.

Best result/s :

4th place, Llanelli Super Series Triathlon 2023

5th place, British Sprint Championships 2023

Favourite thing about Triathlon : The variety of the training. It’s hard to get bored of three sports.

Best thing about training at the centre : The in-depth physiology testing protocols which are available to us

Favourite race : Sunderland Super Series

Favourite session : Simulation session for an elimination race.

Non-Triathlon related fact : I’m a cheese sauce connoisseur.
