The three home nation governing bodies for triathlon; Welsh Triathlon, Triathlon England and Triathlon Scotland, have agreed triathlon and multisport events organised by Tough Runner UK and Run Afan will no longer receive event permits. This is supported by British Triathlon.

This includes the Escape to Afan Duathlon taking place on 25 November 2023 and this event is no longer recognised as the Welsh Triathlon National Championships.

The decision follows the failure of the event organiser to meet the terms and conditions required to issue event permits. As governing bodies, it is our responsibility to ensure these are met so that events are to the standards we would expect for both the event participants and those that support them.

We realise this will be disappointing for those registered to take part in events organised by Tough Runner UK and Run Afan, but it is important that we maintain the high standards we expect from event organisers and in our sport.
