Andrea Griffiths (Swansea Vale Tri)

Volunteer of the Year 2022

This award is to recognise the efforts of a person who has motivated and inspired or has created new opportunities within the sport on a voluntary basis for the benefit of others. Volunteers could include club committee members and volunteers, parent helpers, event volunteers and marshals. Perhaps they have created a new event or improved or contributed to an existing event or training session(s). Maybe they’ve inspired partnerships within new communities or groups or inspired and encouraged more volunteers or participants in the sport.

Winner – Andrea Griffiths (Swansea Vale Tri)

We are delighted to award Andrea with our volunteer of the year award 2022. Andrea shows huge commitment to her voluntary role at Swansea Vale, she’s passionate about helping the new athletes who come into the club and help them begin their triathlon journey. What sets Andrea apart is someone who will go that extra mile, extra shout out and extra message on the day of the race to wish you luck and see how you got on. Swansea Vale is incredibly lucky of the time she gives to support and she has encouraged so much positivity in the club. She is always there to offer advice.

"Congratulations Andrea, you are a credit to your community!" - Amy Jenner, Head of Development

Shortlist Nominations – Justin Smith (Merthyr Triathlon Club) / Mark Townsend (Pen-y-Bont Triathlon Club) / Martin Lightwood (Porthcawl Triathlon Club)
