Earlier this year Penybont triathlon club contacted Welsh triathlon to arrange the activators course for 10 of our members to assist with the growing numbers in our new club.
This was really beneficial for us as a club having our members only as it created a tighter bond and has heightened friendship’s within the group whom attended the course and they all loved being part of the group as whole and as one club.
The feedback I had from the activator’s who attended was that it was really helpful, interesting and very beneficial. They have all since ( pre covid) had activators meetings headed up by our lead activator and are planning things from what they learned from the course. From this we have created a Rota and an incentive plan.
What we have gained from the course is that the coaches can now be less committed to every session and can relax a little more during sessions with activators attending all sessions to assist the coaches. This has been working perfectly since the activators course.
We also offer an activator incentive so at the end of the 2020 season the top activator who has helped with the most club sessions and who has shown the most interest in assisting will be rewarded with the prospect of attending a level 1 triathlon coach course funded by the club. Also we have introduced an incentive for the activators that after a certain number of sessions they attend and activate, the activator will receive a free funded item from the club lower range kit tier.
We have put another 4-5 members through the new online activators course.
