Dom Coy

Age : 21

Coach : Luke Watson

Hometown : Ilkley, Yorkshire

Triathlon Background : I started doing cross-countries in my local school league at age 5 and did my first triathlon at 8, joining Leeds and Bradford Tri Club shortly after. I competed in the Yorkshire Junior series, qualifying to race at the IRCs a few times before moving up to Youth level, getting my first GB elite respresentation at the Youth European Champs Festival in 2019. I came to Cardiff in 2020 for uni and made the switch to represent Wales (allowed from my mum's Welsh side of the family) to put me where I am today.

 Best result/s :

1st @ 2023 Super Series Grand Final/British Champs, Mallory Park >>> 3rd overall in the Brtish Super Series

2nd @ 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games Mixed Team Relay

1st @ BUCS Sprint and BUCS Duathlon in 2022

3rd @ 2021 Junior World Championships, Quarteira

Favourite thing about Triathlon : The best thing to me is that doing 3 sports means there's always something new to be working on and thinking about without getting bored. I also love going out running or riding just getting away from the stress of daily life and exploring, as well as the opportunities to travel to interesting places and meet new people.

Best thing about training at the centre : It's great to have the group to make training more fun and social, and also love being based in Cardiff- think its a great city to live in with a good balance of everything you need as a student/athlete.

Favourite race : Ilkley Triathlon- my home race, organised by my home club, on a really tough & hilly bike and run course.

Favourite session : Sunday long run (preferably all off-road) or maybe 50min build run on Llandaff XC course.

Non-Triathlon related fact : I can name every country in the world and locate them all on a map off the top of my head. I'm also a world record holder: took part in breaking the WR for the most people simultaneously playing a nintendo DS in one place in 2010. (Think the record still stands :D)
