Why me, Why socks, Why now…..? Hello I’m Adam Fletcher the founder and CEO of BRAV Endurance. I am extremely driven, graduating from Cardiff University and now working at a leading Global Steel Production Works in South Wales. But at the age of 26 I am also an extremely dedicated Endurance Triathlete who absolutely fell in love with the sport five years ago while watching Ironman Wales. I knew I had to give this sport a try and see what it was all about.

Outside of my day to day work it has become my absolute passion and I love nothing more than getting to travel the world racing this incredible sport. That I feel even more so now, genuinely brings people together. But people always ask me where the idea for socks came from. Well, I am a massive fan of my training and racing kit, like all of us who spend so much time in it. I also felt there was a huge gap in the market within the UK for really thought out endurance socks that not only looked cool but had all the functionalities that you really require while spending so much time training. So I began my research …… I used the whole of 2016 season as my tester season, having different prototypes created and then wearing them myself for racing and training. Tweaking things along the way that I was not quite happy with. The cuff slipped down, or there wasn’t enough support around the foot arch. My feet sweat so we would need more ventilation or a better compound material for the top of the foot. Several prototypes later I was finally really happy with the mechanics of the sock, it did exactly what I needed. I threw a design I had dreamt about for a long time, through the whole process of creating a sock actually and with that the next thing ‘to the moon and back’ had been created as the first official pair of BRAV Endurance socks.

While all this had been going on I had also been working hard with a very good friend of mine creating the whole brand Image, from the name to the logo. The slogans and the whole ethos of the company and exactly what I wanted to achieve with it. This whole process would never had been possible without his help and it was an act of selflessness in its purest form, from someone who just loved the idea and enthusiasm of the project and just wanted to help.  I wanted to create a community so much more than just a company and I feel so much that I have done exactly that… It’s super inspiring.

BRAV Endurance was launched a week before Ironman wales and the initial response was completely overwhelming. We counted on the day and had 43 pairs of my first design socks out racing on the Ironman Wales course, which was not bad considering they had only been launched five days prior. I was so proud especially when I heard comments from spectators and supporters as I raced around the course in mine. At that point I really began to feel that this could become something, that I could actually achieve something really special and that would not have been possible without the incredible support I have received on my journey. This has continued five months down the line and I am now launching the biggest project to date with this collaboration with Welsh Triathlon. I cannot begin to explain the pride I felt when I got approached for it and I really hope that people love these special custom designs as much as I have loved creating them.

We have managed to provide people across the whole of Europe with BRAV socks and even as far as the Philippines. But within Wales I have been so overwhelmed by the response, I have met such amazing people since BRAV has begun and I really can’t wait to see what the future holds.
I have a big year within the sport this year racing in both the European and World Championships for long distance but I am also unbelievably motivated to really focus on BRAV and showing people just how much hard work has gone in to creating a product I am so very proud of and can’t wait to share with as many people as humanly possible.

Thank you so much to everyone and especially Welsh Triathlon for the support, you will never truly know how much it means to me.
