Commonwealth Games Nomination Policy

Published:

With less than 18 months to go before the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games we are delighted to share the Welsh Triathlon, Triathlon Nomination Policy.

This policy details the sport specific standards required for consideration for nomination to CGW and has been approved by CGW.

Team Wales aims to build on its most successful Games in Glasgow 2014 having brought home 36 medals.  The selection standards reflect this aim, with athletes from all sports required to finish in the equivalent of the top six of their event. Given the high standard of Triathlon across the Commonwealth countries, a top six standard is a big challenge, however one that our Welsh athletes will endeavour to achieve.

It is important to emphasise that Welsh Triathlon does not select athletes.  Athletes who have met the criteria are nominated by Welsh Triathlon, but selected to represent Team Wales is by Commonwealth Games Wales.
Eligible athletes should read both the CGW Selection Handbook and the Welsh Triathlon Nomination Policy.

Welsh Triathlon will only nominate those athletes qualified under the triathlon specific nomination standards included in the policy, and who meet the criteria of the CGW Selection Handbook, which can be found HERE
