Welsh Triathlon is thrilled to announce the continuation and expansion of the Tîm Tri Cymru programme for the 2024 and 2025 season.

Tîm Tri Cymru has returned for 2024 where athletes will be representing Wales at the British Sprint, Standard and Aquathlon Championships.

This age group initiative is designed to identify, nurture, and support the most promising triathletes in Wales, with the aim of enhancing their performance on both national and international stages. Tîm Tri Cymru, Welsh for "Team Tri Wales," represents a commitment to excellence in the sport of triathlon, offering a structured pathway for athletes to achieve their full potential.

The 2024 season promises an enriching blend of educational webinars, hands-on training sessions, and special events tailored specifically for the Tîm Tri Cymru athletes. These include a series of webinars covering crucial topics such as Basic Race Nutrition, Anti-Doping, Race Tactics and Skills, and Psychological Skills, all led by esteemed experts in their respective fields. The programme highlights include a Kit Presentation Day and a Performance Squad Showcase, providing athletes with not only the physical tools but also the knowledge and strategies essential for top-tier performance.

Qualification events for 2025

Looking ahead, Welsh Triathlon has also detailed the qualification events for the 2025 season, signalling a clear path for aspiring triathletes to become part of this prestigious team. Events such as the Barry Island Aquathlon, Barry Sprint Distance Triathlon, Bluestone Pembrokeshire Coast Standard Triathlon, and the newly added Harlech Duathlon have been selected as the battlegrounds for athletes aiming to secure their spot on Tîm Tri Cymru 2025.

How do I get involved?

Firstly, to qualify, you need to be an active Welsh Triathlon member. If you are not a member, you can join by clicking here. 

Welsh Triathlon will look to select at least one member from each age category in Open and female races. This position will go to the highest participant within their respective age category. We will then run a drop-down list for those participants who wish to get involved. To qualify for Tîm Tri Cymru 2025 you will need to take part in the following qualifying events for the distance you wish to compete in.
