Published:

The International Triathlon Union (ITU) has announced the 42 Technical Officials including ten from Great Britain who will oversee and officiate the triathlon competition at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

From Great Britain, there will be ten National Technical Officials (NTOs) who have been named by the ITU as:

Masie Bancewicz, Lynda Chase, Paul Groves, Duncan Hough, Mike Masters, Terry Race, Sarah Taylor, Howard Vine, Jane Vine and Tom Roberts

Many of you will recognise the face of Tom Roberts selected from the Welsh Officials.  Tom has competed, organised and officiated at a variety of events for the last 20 years.  He has been an official at ITU and ETU events including London World Cup Series, ETU European Championships, ITU Triathlon Premium European Cup, 3 Salford World Cups, Swansea European Duathlon Championship and Swansea Sprint Triathlon. In addition he has worked on domestic Welsh Triathlon Championship events and the London (EXCEL) triathlon.

Tom has trained a number of officials and has enjoyed educating and encouraging those officials in his charge, pleased to see them rise through the ranks of officials to the highest level.

Tom says ‘I feel honoured to participate in the London 2012 Olympic Games, although I am still somewhat in awe. I believe officiating in the 2012 Olympic Games will allow me to embrace the Olympic Spirit "to build a peaceful and better world ... which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.”
